QLIR
The project brief was to design a personal cooling device. Following rigorous filtration and user study, working professionals were selected as the target user group. The initial approach was from a very commercial product design perspective where the most evident pain points of the user were understood and tackled. As the design process progressed, multiple underlying problems started to surface. These problems had a direct impact on an employee’s happiness at the office. At this stage, the project took a more experimental and reflective approach rather than a commercial one and dived into the domain of discursive design. The current employee scenario was taken and extrapolated to create a fictional story. Elements from the story were translated to the cooler design. A multi-sensory approach ensured that the perceived cold was much better than actual readings. QLIR is a personal cooler that provides a comfortable work environment and makes the user question the very comfort they enjoy.
