This project commenced as an exploratory project with the idea of finding new and innovative solutions for different watches in Titan’s watch portfolio. Full bangle watches have limited options for a strap, and size adjustability options were non-existent. The customers get fewer options to choose from, so they generally move to half bangle watches, which uses a semi-bracelet strap. The process began with research of bangle watch options available in Indian and other markets, especially made by Titan. Opinions about the watches were taken from customers, watch shop staff, manufacturers, and experts. Sketching and 3D explorations were done to analyze the feasibility of design and the manufacturing possibilities. The designs were finalized after discussions and suggestions for improvement. The student worked on designs and locking mechanisms that needed mechanical testing and alterations to improve and refine them before they hit the market. Considering the limited options in the non-luxury category of bangle watches, the manufacturers have immense potential to attract customers, especially in India, where there is an affinity towards jewellery.
