There’s a growing demand for healthy cookware options for sustainable and local clay cookware that strongly resonates with the heritage of Indian culture, supports the ability to recreate traditional recipes in a modern context, and its use can empower and support local craft communities. Research into various Indian cooking methods has shown that many breakfast recipes rely on steaming, which is one of the healthiest cooking options. Exploring different possibilities and applying a design approach led to new clay cookware options for steaming and baking food with sensible incorporation of certain design elements to give characteristics that also bring out the relevance of historic pottery of this place.
