The project aims at redesigning a sneaker using new and innovative sustainable methods and materials based on user needs and challenges faced. The project also aims at finding ways of interventions in the ongoing design and manufacturing system of a shoe.
The design process followed for the project started with researching on the domain, understanding the industry and its ecosystem, understanding the product, product lifecycle and the whole system and processes of manufacturing and development of the product. The next step was to study the market and research the ongoing and upcoming trends, new innovations, concepts and modifications in the domain. This helped create a benchmark for the product. After the market research the next important area to study and understand was the users. In this step a consumer segment was created and personas were developed. Primary and secondary research through internet search on product reviews, forums, personal interviews etc were conducted to gain more insights on the user needs, pain points and expectations.
Once all the data was collected which included domain research, market study and user study. all the insights were analysed to come up with design requirements. These design requirements were used to develop concepts for the product, out of which a few concepts were used to create the final designs.
