This project looks at the ecosystem around Nile Perch leather, which is created using fish skin, a byproduct of the Nile Perch food industries, and the possibilities the material affords. It looks at documenting the local craft practices which have emerged around the material to demonstrate the role of craftmanship in leather industry as well as creating awareness on alternative sources of leather; and to empower local communities through designed interventions supplementing their existing skills.
