My First Renault

I wanted to create something futur¬istic for my final diploma project. By 2050, mobility will encompass time, space, pollution, fuel availability and affordability constraints. The shortage of living space is already a major concern among India’s most populated cities and the growing number of two-, three- and four-wheelers is only making it worse.
In order to bring the joy or thrill back into driving, I thought of designing a vehicle for land, air and water. While such attempts have been made abroad, making something for Indian conditions could be quite a challenge. The vehicle would have to house all me¬chanical parts and also allow the person to be seated comfortably. I remained close to the desired sketch that was in keeping with the attitudes of the youth of the future. The modelling team helped me build the initial model which I used to sketch on, and thus further refined the ideas. And thus was born My First Renault.

The target client I designed for is the youth of tomorrow, who will demand attention wherever he/she goes. My First Renault of 2050 is completely influenced by the need for speed and compactness and the younger generation’s obsession with robotics, aesthetics and bang for the buck, while being eco-conscious.
My learning at Renault Design India has thought me to look at mobility so¬lutions not just as fancy objects, but ones which have a solid purpose and are a strong extension of one’s personality. While improvements in skill, design sensitivity and form explorations will continue, the final output of this project has left me content and brought me a step closer to the kind of vehicle I wish to use in 2050.
