| Keywords Waste Management Infographics Publication Context |
The aim of my diploma project was to design the publication for the report, Garbage Management My Experience for Vatavaran, a non-government, non-profit, community-based organization registered in New Delhi, which takes up socio-environmental issues. The extensively documented report intends to spread awareness about such issues in other parts of the country. By using its Delhi-based work as model Vatavaran proposes to help others replicate their efforts and successes. In order to make the report more visually appealing and communicative, illustrations and info-graphics had to be included in the publication along with the typography. First, I had to understand and analyse the content of the report in terms of its communication requirements and thus define the expected outcome. I studied the various methods of visually representing large amounts of information and explored some structures for the presentation of the data. I worked on a number of illustrations and infographics, the format, typefaces and flow of information that would make the layout of the publication. The end deliverable was a dummy publication which included the infographics, illustrations and typographical work. Through this project I understood the importance of context while dealing with information and making it interesting without losing its essence. |
