For my project, I worked as part of a team that was trying to design and implement a framework of services to consistently manage the interpretation, distribution and archival of information within Madura Garments.
I worked as part of a team in two parallel areas.
The first involved defining and standardizing processes from concept to delivery
The second involved implementing a software to support information management and archival during these processes.
We closely worked with a software developer, vendor, and the teams from 2 of Madura brands- “Peter England Men’s and Peter England People.
The research process involved initiating extensive group discussions, gathering team feedbacks and analysis of what was required in a particular brand’s context vs. what software could facilitate. My key role revolved around detailing out approaches for various activities enlisted for this project.
Though implementing software appeared to be a way to facilitate the alignments and standardizations, the company realized that it paradoxically created a new set of unanticipated challenges within one single brand itself. Analysis revealed that “change” was at the heart of these challenges. Changes of different proportions affected the formation and may affect the stability of the developed information system in the near future.
One of the key realizations I acquired through my project is that “every little approach matters.” Design thinking and sensibilities can empower people in collective decision making for approaches that may be taken even within the most complex situations of multi-disciplinary nature. |
