The project was centered on finding ways of repositioning traditional crafts and textile techniques in the menacing scenario of cradle to grave industrial economy. The project subsequently dealt with the aesthetics of wabi sabi, bare minimalism and declutter. Batik and Eco-printing were the two fundamental techniques used for the three collections. Problems in both techniques were analysed and various experiments were carried out to understand how utilise them, which induced experimental process developments. Eventually products were made using these techniques which demonstrate the making of contemporary fashion using traditional skills that are rich in cultural identity and are relevant for today’s consumers.
