Japanese is a cuisine where the food canvas employs colour and where form truly follows function. The objective of the project was to design pottery tableware for Japanese cuisine including plates, bowls, which are in sync with the experience of eating Japanese food. In-depth research went into understanding the influence and adaption of Japanese culture in our country. Japanese-themed restaurants were studied and based on insights from the findings and inspired from how the Japanese excel at the use of the bamboo, four dining sets comprising of various sized bowls and plates were designed and developed.
