The project aims to rectify today’s sedentary lifestyles by reducing back problems in individuals with desktop jobs, who sit in chairs for prolonged periods of time. Being an IoT project it acts as resource management where incoming data from the sensors of the chair is captured, collated and later used by a mobile device showing the users their sitting statistics. The design process included domain research on IoT, need and market analysis, data validation and management, prototyping and application development. The end product was a smart chair that understands the posture of the user, and alerts them if their sitting posture is incorrect. A desktop application specially built uses this data to render a real-time workforce management tool.
