This research-based project was about the kitchens and flavours of Gujarat. Initially, an in-depth ethnographic study of how Gujarati people utilise their kitchens – their cooking styles, storage styles and how they identify themselves with their kitchen – was conducted. The final illustrated publication covers several facets of the Gujarati people including their culture, festivals and lifestyles in the context of local food and kitchens. It aims at creating awareness in the reader about the local culinary culture of Gujarat through use of photographs, stories and supporting text. Various graphic design elements were woven in to embellish the illustrations, structuring, layout, and binding of the publication.
