This project had the vision of creating garden furniture that promoted stainless steel as a mouldable material and established the identity of the space it was placed in. The final approach was holistic – understanding the environment and space of installation, exploring the properties and potential of the material, mapping the user activity and thereby creating concepts that generated an element of aesthetic interest in addition to the functional aspect. The final design was inspired by lotus leaves. The seat was a broad stainless steel leaf in conformity with anthropometric dimensions. Three unopened lotus buds in steel placed below the leaf acted as footrests and added to the aesthetics.
