The project called for designing a unique smart plant care system for the new age NEOs – today’s young urban professionals of the upper middle income groups who are exposed to global sensibilities with premium education. Perceiving green as the new cool, they appreciate sustainable living but would follow it only if it’s convenient. In view of this, Greenopia is designed as a self-watering system. After only a single fill, the plants are kept hydrated for a week. A modular sensor unit monitors the soil moisture and light conditions and pushes this data to the Internet, which is then used to handhold the user in taking proactive care of the plant. Greenopia is handmade in stoneware ceramic bringing in the aesthetics of said craft in designing technology products for the future.
