Feet binding in China, Kayan neck stretching in Myanmar or Victorian corsets. Cruelty to women? Yes, most definitely. Then what about the art of Bonsai? Cruelty to trees? The question remains unanswered and bonsai gains popularity perhaps because most of us believe that trees don’t have a soul and that they cannot feel. What if they do feel? The film revolves around a child Kamal who identifies with the trees’ “feelings” in his dreams. The film tries to provoke the audience into reflection about how showering such tender care and attention to grow a perfect bonsai for mere ornamentation is sheer irony while the real trees are being chopped down.
