Sheryl’s film attempts to look at a vast theme such as religion through a comical perspective. Based on theories of Joseph Campbell on myth, religion and storytelling, the film is about Planet-Ecks; where a native finds a human comic book and misrepresents it to the people as a religious one. The film follows what happens in the aftermath of this, once the religion grows and the entire city begins to worship the new superhuman God.
The film draws upon the intersections of fictional story-telling and religion. It also attempts to explore the themes of power, fame and manipulation through the protagonist’s journey. It seeks to wonder what someone with a different set of experiences would possibly see. The film explores the idea of amusement at finding out the results. Sheryl’s project was the brainchild of all the collective experiences that she acquired at NID.
