Reimagining the future of CMF Design in the Electric Vehicle Era
CMF & CTGCMF DesignAlternative RealityEV PersonalizationTrend Mapping
This project explores the innovative application of Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) design in the evolving electric vehicle landscape, focusing on Matter Motor Works' flagship model, AERA 5000+. As the Gujarat-based EV company transitions into a lifestyle brand, the study examines how CMF strategies can transform electric mobility into a sensory, personal, and emotional experience. By analyzing modern consumer demands for personalization, tech-driven aesthetics, and seamless lifestyle integration, the project identifies advanced material applications in CMF design. Through trend mapping, two macro trends—Alternative Reality and Dopamine Brights—emerged as key inspirations. "Alternative Reality" blends digital and physical worlds, influencing futuristic materials and immersive graphics, while "Dopamine Brights" emphasizes vibrant colors and joyful aesthetics. Five CMF themes were developed to cater to diverse user personas, enhancing both form and function. This study positions Matter Motor Works as a leader in EV innovation, using CMF strategies to craft vehicles that double as lifestyle experiences.
