This project focuses on developing sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics (SUPs) in households, ensuring environmental, social, and economic viability in India. Using the Double Diamond Design Process, it follows a user-centered approach, incorporating primary research, environmental impact assessments, and comparative analysis of feasible materials. The design process emphasizes material innovation, lifecycle sustainability, and scalability, addressing the challenges of plastic waste management. Prototyping and user testing refine functionality and ensure accessibility, including solutions for individuals with disabilities. Ethical considerations guide decision-making, ensuring eco-friendly materials, circular economy principles, and inclusive design. By integrating data-driven insights, sustainable material selection, and iterative product development, this project delivers practical, accessible, and scalable solutions for reducing SUP dependency. It highlights the potential of innovation in sustainability, aligning with India’s environmental policies and the global movement toward responsible consumption and production.
