Skelex : A Military Exoskeleton
Military Wearable TechnologyErgonomic Exoskeleton DesignHuman-Centered RoboticsTactical Load-Bearing SystemAesthetic-Driven Functional Design
This design graduation project focuses on developing a load-bearing exoskeleton for army soldiers, addressing both ergonomic and aesthetic challenges to enhance functionality and user acceptance. Through extensive research and iterative design, the exoskeleton was engineered to distribute overall weight efficiently, reducing the physical strain while maintaining agility and comfort in non-combat and trekking scenarios. Ergonomic design played a crucial role in refining the strapping system and joint placements, ensuring seamless adaptation to the body of the soldiers for natural movement and prolonged wear. Additionally, aesthetic considerations were also integrated, to recognise and highlight the role of visual appeal in psychological readiness and user adoption. The final design strikes a balance between form and function, offering a technologically advanced yet user-friendly exoskeleton. This project contributes to the field of military wearables, setting a benchmark for the thoughtful integration of ergonomics, aesthetics, and functional performance in exoskeleton technology.
