This is a project about Kanika Dawalia’s 6 month internship with Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories where she did her Graduation Project as part of her Masters in Design in Universal Design in her 5th Semester at the National Institute of Design, Bangalore. The project primarily targets the field of Ergonomics & Sustainability which has a huge impact on how innovations are done in this age of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories is a well-established pharmaceutical company which was founded by Anji Reddy with a mission to make medicines accessible to everyone.The company’s 40 year old legacy is a proof that it remains true to the vision of its founder & strives to go above & beyond to continue this legacy.The organisation began undergoing a Digital Transformation journey which is led by the DPEx Team is structured along the lines of Digitalize the Core & Transform with Digital to ensure continuous process improvement & user centric innovation. As a part of this transformation, the Quality division of the organisation wanted to enhance the way of working in their labs, transforming the space into a truly innovative space with prime focus on solving problems of its workforce & moving towards a sustainable way of working with our environment by having a vision of paperless labs. As part of developing an MVP for this mission, the Sterile Facility was selected where injectables(directly injected into the bloodstream) tested. The project involved extensive User Research, UX Audits,User Experience Design & Usability Testing to deliver a final solution called “IRIS” redefining how analysts perform testing of sterile products by means of a smart glass technology entering into a space of extended reality, thereby reducing a significant amount of manual work as well as removing paper from the laboratory & increasing productivity in a true sense.
