By the end of my sixth semester, I was inclined towards textile Art and Craft thus, I wanted to have some art exploration and input in that
direction for my graduation project. Obeetee designs modern, contemporary and artistic handmade carpets visualizing crafts in a contemporary way - The proud to be Indian collaborations of Obeetee excited me to pursue this project there. Choosing to do this project in Carpets,
which I have never explored this product range during the course of my college also allowed me to explore and study a new dimension to
textiles product range altogether. This was a great opportunity for me to explore and apply my textile sensibilities in floorcoverings going
beyond my artistic visualization. The entire journey of the graduation project was a learning experience with an expectation of working with core craft technique with varieties of materials in a organized system. The cumulative outcome includes three projects:1. A range of monochrome contemporary carpets,2. A collection to study and target a brand aesthetic,3. A collection of transitional carpets for my creative expression, Wherever possible, a resource-centric approach was adopted. Across all the projects, an attempt was made to strike a balance between designing one-of-a-kind artistic products and designing reproducible, commercially profitable products. It was a beautiful opportunity to see how carpets coming to life with each knot. It was a relief to finally come close to the legacy of more than 100-years. Observing such rich,
precise detail enforced the vision to bring recognition and value back to this ancient craft technique. It was so enriching to see such precision,
patience, and vision of the weavers.
