The Welspun Global Brands Ltd. sponsored project aimed to create a bedding collection that could be showcased to potential clients and a global audience. The designer explored the workflow of digital and rotary printing by doing diverse client projects, and after getting the hang of it, started the research for the graduation project.
Studying WGSN trends and reports, the designer narrowed it down to specific customers and clients. Two themes were developed: "Martian" for kids' bedding and "First Expression" for young adults. The First Expression theme focused on florals with a twist of maximalist design, and the Martian theme focused on imaginative pre-teens envisioning life on mars.
The project’s use of digital printing expanded the discovery for a new direction for the company, by means of merging the strengths of digital printing with new age visuals centred around present day themes. The constraints and the many advantages of digital printing were seamlessly integrated into the overall design process, allowing for visually stunning bedding collections that showcased designer’s vision and creativity.
The A/W 23/24 Bedding Collections were completed by creating samples and creative visualization, showcasing the use of digital printing on textiles. This project was done in HO offline majorly, though there were a few hiccups due to sudden COVID-19 outbreaks that happened but were quickly recovered from; adjusting to a new environment and set of rules was refreshing, and various ways of doing things were learned and implemented. Overall, it was a comprehensive knowledge of the industrial and corporate workings of a textile designer.
