Sysnopsis

The Inspiration for the Graduation Project was Tessellations at large. This topic in itself is so vast and detailed, one collection would not be able to do justice.
Hence 2 Primary collections were derived from concept, both adapting different aspects of it to differ from the other.
The First Collection, Matrix, was inspired from Islamic Architecture and its geometry. Because of the shapes that it uses, it allowed for an in-depth exploration of Dabu as a craft, along with the others practised at Aavaran, to make it more dimensional. Owing to its geometric shape, it also offered versatility and purpose beyond Apparel Print. Since this collection was a venture into a new design language, there was also a new opportunity to create and explore new silhouettes.
The Second collection, Safari, took inspiration from how other Artists had interpreted tessellations in their own way and the methods that they used. For this collection, the form motivation was 'Wild Cats' and they were combined with the concept of Tessellations to create a completely new and fierce language for Aavaran.
Both the collections were thoroughly explored with textiles and techniques to get the most appropriate outcome.
A Sub-Collection was derived from the blocks of the Matrix collection, that was explored in a more abstract form.

The Document also goes over learnings that transcended the expectations from this project and how they impacted perspective and the design process.
