“Pilgrimage” is a 2D animated short film by Arindam Dhar made as part of the graduation project for the National
Institute of Design. The film runs for approximately seven and a half minutes. It tells the story of a journey of three
people through an abandoned and apocalyptic world in search of water.
The film showcases the importance of a basic necessity of survival, water, and the consequences of taking it for granted.
It shows the perilious and rough journey one woud have to take in the wake of a similar situation in the future. The
film’s purpose is to tell the viewer of the necessities we take for granted now and a possible future where its extremely
difficult to acquire. The film shows the mundaneness of an journey in search of water and a quest for survival.
