The seven months duration of my Graduation project has been a great learning opportunity as I could execute my theoretical knowledge gained in campus to practical knowledge in industry. During this internship period, I have gotten chance to expand my horizon as a designer through the projects that I carried out with Caratlane | Shaya. The first collection was a silver jewelry collection for Indian women with different range of statement and light-weight product categories aligned with Shaya’s brand values that amalgamates traditional essence and modern design sensibilities. There is a good mix of products that range less than 1k to 2-7k to above 12k that can cater to al kind of audiences. The collection has a contemporary touch with traditional essence. Silver metal has been explored in multiple ways in terms of finish, texture, color, in combination with stones to get the best representation of inspiration.
The rigorous process has been followed by studying the Customer segmentation, Trends, Color, Material, Finishes, price range, design and styling.
This gave me an industrial exposure and relevant insights about how jewelry industry works as well as roles and responsibilities of people involved in the process.
I potentially utilized my learnings and skills gained at National Institute of Design. I got a sneak peak into jewelry world and learnt nuances about weight constraints, manufacturing limitations, functionality aspects involved in product development, design aesthetics, etc.
