As modern-day technology user’s we require many platforms to accomplish the relevant day to day tasks, which are also interlinked with another. Providing ubiquity to such interactions and synchronizing the data is a sought after need. Mid-Market and small business owners have many business operations and processes operating everyday on several applications, an eco-system of applications is structured by the business owner that involves processes like marketing, CRM, finance etc.; These small business owners uses Intuit’s accounting application QuickBooks & registers with it for managing their accounts and taxation for their daily sales and purchase. Accounting is a domain that requires accuracy and precision for all the financial transactions happening around the business processes so that the taxation process ends up smooth and to get predictive analysis around the business growth. All of this can only be only possible for the end user when their routine cross-platform data is being mapped correctly to QuickBooks without fail.
As per Intuit’s customer research, being able to perform the integration and map data between third-party and QuickBooks is one of the top requests by their customers. Their current Data mapping process does not support applications beyond the Intuit in-built applications and is not that simple & straight-forward process either, thus limiting QuickBooks's ability to scale up and not being able to fully meet their customer’s needs. The project aimed devising and delivering a scalable framework for mapping data from an application to QuickBooks in a simplified way that helps the small business owners reduce their cognitive and financial overheads that comes in due to the current gaps; and help QuickBooks to deliver a solution in near future.
