The project was to develop a process that would use their existing in house facilities to produce products using concrete and cork as the mother materials. One of the major problems faced during the project was in tweaking the already existing manufacturing process used by other developers in terms of the materials used, aggregate development and the post production method. Keeping the sponsors motivated towards the execution of experimental design process when the explorations weren’t perfectly functional was another bump in the road.
Another challenge was to ensure that the workers trained in the project should be able to produce the new designs with/without the supervision of the designer. To realize this, they were taught to read construction techniques and handling different measuring tools which are new for them, All to achieve desired products with perfection. A major focus was driven towards making the management understand their flaws and irregularities in the production method. The final outcome was a range of products developed using the two mother materials.
