The project aimed at developing a new line of saris woven on jacquard handlooms based on the theme “Quilts from around the world” for the brand “Ethicus”. The brand, which is based in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu promotes ethical and sustainable fashion. It sheds light on the concept of a “Farm to Fashion brand,” in which the entire value chain, such as the environment and local fauna, farmers, weavers, centuries-old traditions, future generations, and eventually the nation, is brought forward to a better quality of life. The document covers the entire journey and the duration of the project. It started from the initial concept and research to the brainstorming and discussions that took place at Ethicus, the research and study of the company’s profile and philosophy, the past collections, and their clientele, the inspiration, the development of design-based the specified loom setting and the execution of final designs. This next project provided a platform to develop products and develop easier techniques for the newly trained women weavers. It has been an amazing experience, teaching new things and learning new things like administrative work, managing the trainees, and outsourcing raw materials. This document is a reflection of this beautiful and enriching journey.
