As the name suggests, YUJA is about self-connect. It incorporates various aspects of living a life with one’s terms and conscience. Yuja is a means of self-expression through one’s belongings, skills, and involvement throughout time.
Yuja was born during a crucial time in our lives. A world was going through a deadly pandemic with people confined in their homes uncertain about the future. Spending time at home, made people aware of simple things around them and how those things impact their lives and their closed ones.
I decided to work around these terms, redefine bonding with your loved ones and came up with an idea of a DIY kit - YUJA which I gradually refined as I went through the project. Using textile is a great way of expressing emotions ( grandmothers used to make sweaters or bridal dupatta for their kids/grandkids). It is something to cherish and always gives a feeling of nostalgia.
