The graduation project at Welspun, a home furnishing and design firm in Mumbai, gave Saily a platform to practice professional design as a part of academic study. The design brief was to create two kids’ bedding collections for Heim-Textile 2018, a Germany based international event. The research included global seasonal forecasts and trending kids’ collections. It was an exciting opportunity to understand kids’ psychology and meaningful things that could take the form of a design.
The freedom to choose the subject, style and colors helped Saily to evolve as a designer. The digitally printed collection for kids aged between four and eleven comprised of ten products with a specific theme and color palette. Saily learnt trend forecasting and the process to translate it into design ideas. Conceptualization was an essential part of the project as the collection was not just meant to be aesthetically appealing, but also meaningful for kids.
