Swasthya: Visual Communication for Community Health
Therefore Design, Pune
Guide Tarun Deep Girdher
The project was carried out for Piramal Swasthya, a non-profit organization that provides healthcare and nutrition facilities
in Andhra Pradesh. The organization works to make healthcare accessible to all demographics, especially those which are most vulnerable, by leveraging the power of technology to achieve desired results. The scope required a system to communicate key messages to tribal communities residing in the Araku region of the state. Field research, communication with experts and study of similar projects was done.
Secondary research helped with critical analysis and ideation for possible interventions and solutions. The final solutions were presented in the form of charts and flip-charts which helped in educating tribal women on themes such as proper nutrition and antenatal care. One of Vineet’s main learnings from the project was the realization that design for rural audiences should come directly from the ideas of the audience rather than the designer himself.
