Jharcraft, an initiative by the Jharkhand Government was formed to create sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural areas, based on sericulture, handloom, handicrafts and other allied activities. Through her project at Urban Haat, Gargee developed a range of home décor products using Dhokra craft, for a contemporary lifestyle. It included designing of products in brass using sand casting. The aim was to build a bridge between traditional and contemporary styles of developing home décor products, while retaining authenticity and adding an element of uniqueness to enhance them further.
The designed collection of products included candle stands, planters, wall hangings, festive masks and show pieces. An additional project included designing of jute gift boxes for pocket squares, which were hand painted with exquisite Sohrai artwork. The major contribution of the project was the creation of a new design language for the collections of Jharcraft, by understanding the ecosystem of the craft. It was also envisioned to further broaden the horizons of artisans.
