The project was undertaken with the eGovernment Foundation, Bangalore, to introduce a potential paradigm shift in Indian Local Governance by providing the benefits of Information and Communications Technology to the existing structures and processes. Primary sources of information included visits to urban local bodies of multiple states where the parent organisation had a presence. Secondary sources included a study of applications developed by the parent organisation and public policy outlining the structure, roles and functions of local government including public reports on operational issues.
The knowledge was applied to the design and development of an application ecosystem for Public Grievance Redressal at the local level with personal involvement in conceptual design, UX and UI of the built interfaces. The application eco-system was designed to optimise processes in the PGR system for the citizens, municipal employees and administrators. After the launch, issues with adoption of the system by multiple stakeholders had been identified and are now being addressed.
