Home Town is a well-known player in the retail business offering homemaking solutions. The store was facing problems with their existing sofa cum beds, so they offered Karishma an opportunity to fix the same. The brief was to design living room sofa beds for people living in 2BHK or 3BHK flats, keeping in mind space issues, budget constraints and practicality of multipurpose furniture.
Karishma visualized how the same piece could be used by families or guests as a sofa during the day and bed by night for sleepovers. The process was executed in four phases, which included defining, discovering, designing and delivering. Research was carried out through market and user study, manufacturing process and analyzing solutions. It was a great learning experience to apply theoretical design learning into Home Town project and contributing to developing concept furniture for urban homes.
