This graduation project explores waste driven design by transforming pre consumer textile waste from Welspun Textile Mill, Anjar, into a home textile collection in collaboration with SPUN, Welspun’s CSR project arm. By working with materials like selvage and kona remnants, the project investigates up-cycling within an industrial context. Waste mapping informed the design process, guiding the creation of three collections shaped by material constraints rather than conventional design freedom. Fabrics were evaluated for both aesthetic appeal and usability, while techniques such as patchwork, running stitch, and appliqué maximised material efficiency. The project emphasises that textile waste can be a design opportunity, though challenges like material inconsistency and labor intensity affect scalability. Bridging academic insights from NID with industrial practice, the project demonstrates how artisanal textiles and structured waste utilisation can create economically, socially, and environmentally responsible products, reflecting a shift toward system-aware, sustainable design thinking.
