This project involves designing a bottom-hinged, top-opening side battery panel for IDAN Motors’ modular electric motorcycle platform. The challenge was to create a functional anchor that remains consistent across various body kits, such as Bobber and Scrambler, while feeling integral to each design. The battery panel is treated as a "hero element," celebrating the machine's heart rather than hiding it. The sleek, muscular design communicates strength and enables safe, tool-less battery swaps in under a minute. My approach combined research-through-design with iterative prototyping, including sketches, foam mock-ups, and 3D-printed tests for ergonomics and latch mechanisms. Special focus was given to rider leg clearance and the tactile confidence of a secure click closure. The outcome is a validated, pilot-ready design supported by DFM guidelines and usability data. Beyond the part itself, the project defines a design methodology for platform components, creating a future-ready foundation for modular electric motorcycle archetypes.
