Stage & Stories; Theatre Timelines is an exhibition design project sponsored by the Urban Management Centre, Ahmedabad, created for the All About Natak Fest 2025 and as a semi-permanent exhibit at the Theatre and Media Centre archive. The project involved ideation, research, curation, writing, design, and production, and explored the history of theatre in India through the lenses of space, architecture, colonization, culture, and stagecraft. Drawing from the research of Manvita Baradi on theatre spaces and Hasmukh Baradi on Gujarati and modern Indian theatre, the exhibition traced nearly 30,000 years of theatre history, spanning classical, folk, and contemporary forms. It highlighted diverse staging formats, narratives, and socio-cultural contexts, and included an introduction to the Natyashastra, the world’s earliest theatre treatise. Archival materials such as costumes, manuscripts, books, and props from multiple donors were also displayed.
