This generative design research examines how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping social innovation in India, often shifting initiatives from community driven to technology led interventions. While AI enables scale, personalization, and predictive insights, deployments frequently remain misaligned with the lived realities of vulnerable communities. Using a human centered design methodology, the study analyzes AI’s intersection with ESG integration through ecosystem analysis, multi domain stakeholder interviews (including Wadhwani AI and Samagra), and use case based focus groups at Samsung on digital accessibility for the elderly. Findings reveal three systemic challenges: misaligned problem framing, neglect of broader human ecosystems, and AI products functioning as standalone plugins rather than adaptive systems. Addressing these requires responsible AI approaches where design mediates solutions. Phase 1 introduces the Social x AI Guidebook and 3P Alignment Model (Problem, People, Product). Phases 2 and 3 envision collaborative ecosystems and institutionalized frameworks, reframing AI as an ethical, user-centric partner for systemic social transformation.
