This graduation project documents a seven-month industry engagement at Welspun Living Ltd., Mumbai, with focused exposure to the processing, manufacturing, design, and development of area rugs at the Welspun Flooring Plant in Hyderabad. The primary objective was to design area rug collections for living spaces and children’s nursery spaces for an upcoming season. The design process involved brainstorming, mind mapping, trend and market research, concept and narrative development, mood and colour board creation, hand sketches, digital artworks, and the final development of cohesive collections. Four distinct area rug collections were developed, each based on a unique theme, reflecting the structured design methodology and scale of operations followed by a large export-oriented manufacturing organisation.
