Spirits of the Hills is a graphic novel that explores belief, superstition, and emotional memory through a fictional story set in North-East India. Inspired by field visits, real conversations, and local folklore, it follows characters who encounter unexplained events that compel them to reflect on fear, faith, and uncertainty. The project blends research with visual storytelling to examine how belief systems shape everyday life and cultural understanding. Rather than treating superstition as fact or fiction, the narrative approaches it as a meaningful way through which people cope, connect with their environment, and pass down collective memory. The graphic novel positions belief as a living cultural force—one that continues to evolve while anchoring communities to shared histories and emotional experiences.
