This graduation project explores the evolution of Colour, Material, and Finish (CMF) design at Mercedes-Benz, examining how emerging trends, sustainability, and user experience shape the brand’s luxury identity. The project aims to develop a visionary CMF palette that respects Mercedes-Benz’s legacy of craftsmanship while integrating future-forward materials, sustainable innovations, and emotional engagement. Key objectives include analysing Mercedes-Benz’s design philosophy, studying the role of CMF in defining luxury, and developing trend-driven CMF concepts that balance innovation, sustainability, and sensory appeal. The methodology involves research into historical and contemporary CMF trends, competitor benchmarking, and consumer behaviour analysis, alongside hands-on material exploration using bio-based leathers, organic textiles, smart surfaces, and recycled composites. Design development includes mood boards, material sampling, and CMF palette creation, followed by prototyping and testing for durability and tactile quality. The final outcome proposes a next-generation CMF strategy for Mercedes-Benz, merging heritage with futuristic, eco-conscious luxury.
