This graduation project explores how speculative design can enable automotive companies to actively shape the future of mobility rather than merely respond to change. Drawing from trend reports, field observations, market studies, and critical imagination, the research examines emerging forces such as urbanisation, sustainability, shared mobility, and electric and autonomous vehicles—particularly within the Indian context. The project reframes vehicles as experiential systems rather than isolated products, encouraging first-principles thinking around convenience, safety, personalisation, and accessibility. Speculative scenarios function as strategic thought experiments, helping teams navigate uncertainty, break silos, and move beyond incremental innovation. These scenarios informed a two-fold design approach: near-term interventions leveraging existing engineering capabilities for pilot services and electrification, and long-term visions aligned with evolving infrastructure, policy, and societal needs. By integrating foresight, scenario planning, and design inquiry, the project cultivates a future-ready mindset and positions speculative design as a tool for sustainable, inclusive mobility innovation.
