This graduation project, undertaken with Kainaat Design, a boutique luxury home décor studio based in Delhi, explores the end-to-end process of designing surface graphics for ceramic tableware using decal application. Executed as part of the Master’s programme in Ceramic and Glass Design, the project examines the intersection of aesthetics, technical constraints, and market considerations in luxury homeware production. The work involved developing both standalone products such as mugs and snack plates, and a comprehensive dinnerware collection. Emphasis was placed on aligning designs with the brand’s curated visual language while meeting commercial requirements. The process included motif development, colour and composition planning, sampling, and adaptation across materials like bone china and stoneware. Technical aspects such as keyline drawing, screen printing methods, and vendor coordination were addressed. Supported by market and user research, the project offered practical insights into balancing originality, brand identity, and production feasibility within the luxury retail context.
