This project addresses neonatal hypothermia, one of the leading risks to newborn health, through early detection and timely response. Hypothermia often goes unnoticed until critical, while parents face stress due to delayed detection, limited information, and lack of immediate response systems. Grounded in clinical research by Bempu with hospitals and medical colleges, along with interviews and observations, the study revealed that most hypothermia-related damage is preventable with quick action and that bulky add-ons cause infant discomfort. Parents preferred simple, reliable solutions that reduce anxiety. Material studies informed localized thinning for accurate sensing and molding strategies to minimize parting lines. The design outcome is a compact, baby-safe, user-friendly Wearable Device with rechargeable power, LED and buzzer alerts, and 15-second interval Temperature Monitor readings. An alternate two-unit concept enables remote parental alerts. This Medical Device functions as a Baby Health Monitor and Hypothermia Monitor, offering manufacturable, low-processing design that ensures safety, usability, and parental peace of mind.
