This project focuses on the design and development of a service robot for Sleepwell to enhance customer engagement and streamline retail interactions. The objective was to create a robot that integrates seamlessly into store environments, providing assistance through a human-centered experience. Research involved studying retail robotics and human-robot interaction (HRI) to understand how automation impacts engagement. Technologies such as LiDAR and AI-powered cameras were explored to ensure efficient navigation and responsiveness. Data collection through field studies and user interviews helped identify key opportunities where robotic assistance adds value, such as product guidance and inventory support. The design process followed an iterative approach, incorporating user-centered principles to refine the robot’s form and behavior. By balancing technological capability with approachable design, the project seeks to reduce friction in the retail journey. Ultimately, the robot serves as an intuitive companion for customers, demonstrating how service automation can personalize the shopping experience while enhancing operational efficiency in Sleepwell stores.
