The French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP) houses a rich, multidisciplinary research collection, including rare palm-leaf manuscripts, pollen slides, herbarium sheets, and extensive photographic archives. Since its establishment in the 1950s, the IFP has grown into a prominent South Asian research center, with contributions from generations of scholars, archivists, and researchers shaping a vibrant repository of cultural, ecological, and scientific knowledge.

This project reflects on the responsibility of preserving these aging collections through restoration, digitization, and careful curation, ensuring their accessibility for future generations. Positioned as “living treasures,” the archives bridge past and present while inspiring academics, artists, educators, and the public.
