This project explores community-driven urban interventions in Dharavi, Koliwada, a fishing village at the Mithi River’s confluence with the Arabian Sea. Working with Urbz, Mumbai, the project engaged residents to understand their lived experiences and co-develop urban in-situ interventions enhancing environmental, economic, and spatial identity.

Interventions included redesigning village commons for public use, repurposing historic structures to celebrate Koli heritage, and implementing infrastructural improvements to support livelihoods. To document and preserve cultural memory, residents’ stories were transformed into an augmented reality experience, highlighting the Koli community’s historical relationship with the city’s waters before environmental degradation. The project demonstrates how participatory planning and immersive design can preserve heritage while fostering civic engagement in rapidly urbanizing contexts.
