This project reimagines Flipkart's camera feature to help users discover products when traditional text and keyword searches fall short specifically when users are unable to describe a product they saw offline. While search boxes are often effective, they can introduce unnecessary complexity, requiring users to craft perfect keywords. Simultaneously, the project explores opportunities to enhance the user experience by guiding users on best practices for visual search and designing system messages that clearly convey search status. Furthermore, with the rise of generative AI, the integration of visual search with a conversational interface presents a powerful advantage. The project explored adding a conversational layer to the experience to help users express their exact search intent more naturally. As consumers become more image-driven due to platforms like Instagram, it is the right time for Flipkart to strengthen its visual search capabilities. This project serves as a strategic first step in that direction.
