In the mist-covered hills of Darjeeling, Kavya, a curious schoolgirl, finds herself captivated by her mother’s myths, none more so than the legend of the River Mother. However, her imaginative world soon clashes with the reality of water shortages and environmental neglect at home. Driven by a child’s innocence and concern, Kavya embarks on a quest to find the mythical spirit, travelling through local communities to understand the sacred yet fragile nature of water. Her journey leads to a sobering confrontation with the harsh truths of scarcity. Yet, rather than succumbing to despair, Kavya’s imagination becomes a tool for resilience. She chooses to rewrite the ending of her mother’s tale, transforming the myth into a call for action and restoration. Through Kavya’s eyes, the story evolves into a quiet but powerful message: that through respect and communal care, the broken balance between humanity and nature can be healed.
