This project documents the visual and oral histories of the Anglo-Indian community, focusing on the preservation of their unique cultural heritage in Kerala. Through visits to ten families, the study digitized diverse family archives, including photographs and letters that were previously deteriorating. Extensive fieldwork involved site visits to schools, churches, cemeteries, and the Anglo-Indian Museum, tracing an archival journey from Thiruvananthapuram across the state to Kasargode. Each family shared distinctive stories that enriched the archive, revealing the nuances of their marginalized cultural identity. By saving materials that were rotting in cupboards, the project brings critical attention to the importance of cultural documentation and the preservation of hybrid histories. The resulting archive serves as a repository for future generations, highlighting how collective memory is maintained through domestic artifacts and oral narratives. Ultimately, it underscores the significance of local community histories in the broader narrative of Kerala's diverse and evolving social landscape.
